I hope I'm not stepping on any toes, but I figured I'd create a request thread, so that the developer can easily see what people want. Feel free to delete this thread if it's too pushy!

My requests:
  • Enemies (as has already been stated)
  • Pickups - coins, stars, etc.
  • Score - Easy enough to do on my own, but may as well :) Enemies & Pickups can each have a variable for how many points they're worth
  • Triggered Animations - Animating by touch is one thing, but it would be really awsome to also be able to assign an animation to a trigger. Similar to the keys, make it so when player touches trigger_a then an animation somewhere else on the stage plays from frame two and stops on last frame, or whatever. For that matter, how about just a trigger entity that can make lots of other things to be named later happen?
  • Teleport Delay - instead of teleports being instantaneous, have to option to play an animation first (such as walking through a door)
  • Camera Bounds - Just a giant box that basically states that the camera cannot scroll beyond this. Great for mario-like platformers where you fall off the screen and die.

plus all the stuff you already had planned :DD

Oh yeah, and can I have all this by tomorrow morning? that'd be great, thanks! :ARGH: lol

I like most of the things thejoshguy requested but there a few things that would be pretty cool too
My Request:
* Ladders-ladders would be very helpful for getting into high places instead of only using a trampoline
* Ferris Wheel Platforms-more like multiple platforms that spin in a circle
* Spikes-instead of just only a fryer killing you automaticly why not have some traditional spikes where once you hit the spikes you bounce off of it with damage and like have the character flicker like what happens in sonic
* Combo Attacks-Asking a little much for this one but i really liked how you could do them in "Armed and Wings" by ~D-sun

About all I can think of at the moment

How about sliding or climbing across ropes?

i'm pretty sure she can do climbing ledges because theres alot of that in viviscape

good thread idea, not too pushy at all, I shall sticky it in fact :D


well I cant say yes to all of the suggestions so far (at least for now) but there is various good news for you:

  • ladders and climbable surfaces are coded and will be part of the next alpha :bounce:
  • pickups and score are indeed planned, as is a simple inventory similar to knytt
  • a teleport delay is planned, I cant see why I shouldnt make it customisable for different exit animations :)
  • the camera bounds is certainly possible, I'll see what I can do

as much as I dont like to dissapoint I dont think the other stuff will make it into the first version of Edward in some cases because it would be a pain to set up and really drag out the time it takes to make for features that *most* people wont need, or would in fact change the way edward behaves 'out of the box' so to speak.

they are all things I want to address in the future, but for now I'm only focusing on version 1 :)

thanks Thewlis (and welcome too :D) but it isnt the code for it which is why I'm holding off, its making it so that its easy for people to set up when making levels, and how it interacts with the other level parts too. I cant see any reason it wouldnt work eventually, theres just other stuff I want to get down first :)
